Today’s guest is the oldest person I’ve ever welcomed onto my show, and what a great pleasure it was for me to do so.  Feel Better Live More Bitesize is my weekly podcast for your mind, body, and heart. Each week I’ll be featuring inspirational stories and practical tips from some of my former guests. Today’s clip is from episode 394 of the podcast with Dr Gladys McGarey. She’s 103 years old, co-founder of the American Holistic Medical Association, and author of the fantastic book, The Well-Lived Life: A 102-year-old Doctor’s Secrets to Health and Happiness at Every Age. For many of us, finding our purpose in life feels like an optional extra when we’re busy working, raising children or caring for parents. It can be hard to know who we really are or what we want out of life. But Gladys insists we should still strive to identify our reason for getting out of bed every morning. Gladys believes each of us holds a unique purpose - a true reason for being here. And in this clip, she invites you to find yours. Actionable Insights

1. Heal Through Love

Initiate healing by actively loving your life and yourself, recognizing that love is the essence of healing, and focus on sharing what you love with other people.

2. Actively Seek Your Purpose

Begin actively looking for your life’s purpose by reflecting on what truly excites you and makes you feel alive, or by finding ways to help yourself and others, as this active search prevents life from getting stuck.

3. Create a Long-Term Plan

Develop a long-term plan, like a 10-year plan, to maintain curiosity, look forward, and keep life moving, even if the specific goals are a moving target and may not be fully realized.

4. Practice Presence Actively

When struggling with presence or feeling stuck in a dark situation, accept that you’re stuck, then actively look for a new perspective or a message to guide you, such as using a personal mantra like ‘be glad’.

5. Find Purpose in Your Work

If you dislike your job, reframe your perspective by recognizing its purpose in supporting your family, which can transform resentment into a sense of greater purpose.

6. Learn From Your Pain

When experiencing pain or feeling stuck, allow yourself to move with the pain and learn from what it is teaching you, rather than resisting it.

7. Recognize Shared Struggles

Acknowledge that everyone experiences hard times and that light is always available if you actively reach for it, fostering a sense of shared humanity and hope.

8. Value Your ‘Almosts’

Recognize that efforts which don’t fully succeed, referred to as ‘almosts,’ are still valuable experiences that guide you along your path and contribute to who you become.

9. Support Gut Health Daily

Consider taking AG1 daily to support digestion and enrich your gut microbiome with beneficial bacteria, which can positively impact mood and overall well-being, especially during winter.
