Habituation

The psychological bias of getting used to the way things are, causing us to stop noticing our surroundings, even important or beautiful details, because they are always present. This can lead us to miss opportunities for well-being.

Self-Determination Theory

A psychological theory stating that humans have three fundamental emotional needs—agency, competence (growth), and connection (belonging)—which, if met, lead to well-being, and if unmet, cause struggle. These needs originated in our relationship with our surroundings.

Agency
